$125,000 Building Fund - 2004/2005 Capital Campaign

The BCCA Building Fund campaign is nearing its end. With $105,000 raised to date, we only need $125,000 to complete this important campaign! Stay tuned for updates and postings as we all work together to achieve our immediate and long term objectives:

* $49,000 was successfully raised from November 24th to January 1st, 2005 allowing us to sign a purchase & sales agreement for our building in February 2005. The $49K was was raised with the aid of $6K transferred from the (then) newly established Rainy Day fund, and completed the $60K milestone of the Building Fund ($11K of which was initially used for operational expenses).

* $55,000+ is required by April 15th to complete our fully modernized handicap accessibility installations to our lower and sub-lower levels. On February 10th, winning a Norfolk County Superior Court case, the BCCA was granted a final extention from the Architectural Access Board (AAB) to complete all installations by May 5th, 2005. With the aid of two generous accessibility grants totalling $25K (see Grants & Corporate Giving), and a $17K fund transfer from the Rainy Day Fund, the BCCA was able to raise $45K to commission this ambitious and time-constrained project, all while continuing to raise the necessary funds to purchase its building. With the expertise of AFCO Equipment Corporation President, Michael Hatter, BCCA Director of Facilities, Anatoli Tsirelson, MSCE, the veteran engineering/architectural team of Rene Mugnier Associates, the generousity and experience of L. Smith Construction, we are completing the installations as by May 5th, 2005. As part of the installations, BCCA has unveiled an 8'x8' skylight to light up its main stairwell and vertical lift, and in addition will create the foundations for a soon to be release non-profit radio station to broadcast live from the BCCA!

To date, $105,000 of our $125,000 Building Fund has been raised.

Please be a key player in our future and help us raise the final $20K necessary to complete the handicap accessibility installations and allow the BCCA to truly tailor to people of all abilities in both its first level and its lower level!
