This
class provides a background to Tango as an improvisational social dance for
both experienced dancers and those with no previous dance experience. The Tango
is a surprising extension of any previous movement experience from the Martial
Arts to African dance. You will explore the dynamic and expressive range of
movement in the dance from playful to elegant, as well as the basic tango
elements. These classes inspire the student to acquire solid tango technique.
We will work to integrate the beginning dancer into their breath and their
balance, connect them to their imagination through the music and build a
strong, collaborative relationship with their dance partner of the moment.
AnaLinda’s teaching of the tango is unique for it's focus
on simplifying the dance, providing a foundation in partner connection, dance
floor navigation and delight in sensual movement.

2) Continuing the Argentine Tango

This
class is a mixed level class for those who have been dancing tango for several
months, or are currently enrolled in any of my other classes. It is a pre-intermediate
level class or a second level foundation class which seeks to help developing
dancers feel confident and “connect the dots” in their dance. Developing
dancers will learn to connect dance elements into a fluid yet dynamic musical
sequence expressed with physicality that matches the phrase of music.
This
series will build from the intimate rock steps to turning figures, from
syncopations to displacements and drags. These elements will be approached as
private ways to make the dance feel great between partners, and they will
therefore express Tango elegance!
