    A Taste of the Arts
    November 6th
    BCCA presents 'A Taste of the Arts'

    Join us on Saturday, November 6th from 8 to 9pm for a performance to feature a tasty selection of BCCA faculty. Performers include musician Guy Mendilow, Argentine Tango dancers Analinda Marcus and partner, Adrienne Hawkins' Day Job Dancers, tap dancers Suzanne Bouffard and Jill Braverman, Broadway's Marisa Rosek, and Hacha Y Machete, plus 'Break Dancing Meets Martial Arts' featuring the Floorlords, the Chinese Kickboxing Club, and other special guests.
    $10 general admission; $1 discounts for students and seniors

    Fall Course Updates
    The BCCA Youth Program is off to a great start, with classes in dance, martial arts, music, and more. Courses are tailored to toddlers, kids, pre-teens and teens. Spaces are available in all of these courses, so pick up a Youth Program Schedule and come check out a class today!

    We have made some updates and added some new offerings to our Fall Course Catalog. Please check the website for updated schedule information and call ahead to confirm availability before dropping into a class. A new printed version of the catalog will be available soon.

    Thursdays
    "Milonga La Portena"
    An elegant evening with live music by Mass Tango, starting with an introductory lesson for beginners with Fernanda Cajide with dancing to follow
    8:30 p.m. Lesson; 9:15-midnight Dance
    ($13 with lesson; $10 dance only)

    Saturdays
    "Noche de la Salsa"
    A hot evening of latin dancing (Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cha Cha, Mambo & Cumbia) to SalsaBoston's great DJ music with Beginner & Intermediate dance lessons with Dan Yonah Marshall & partner
    9:30 p.m. lessons; 10:30 p.m.-1:00 a.m. open dance
    ($12 with lesson; $10 dance only)

    Sundays
    "Mr. Rogers' Tango Practica"
    A relaxed place to meet, share skills & ideas, and have fun
    3:00-6:00 p.m.
    ($5 - by donation)
    *Practica Notes: 1. No Tango Practica on October 24th due to a special music and tango event. See listing for Week of October 18th 2. October 31st Practica will start at 3:30pm

    "Samba Sundays"
    Samba de Gafiera, "Brazilian Tango", Forro & other Brazilian dances
    7:00-8:30 p.m. Lesson; 8:30-11:00 p.m.
    ($10 with lesson; $8 dance only - by donation)

    When attending BCCA events, please park in non- residential, metered spaces only (free after 6pm and all- day Sundays).

    Women- Empower Yourself!
    A Power. To Protect Workshop
    This workshop is designed to empower women with basic and effective means to avoid danger, recognize it in its early stages and deal with it should you find yourself in a situation that warrants defending your safety. This workshop is for women to feel stronger about:
    * Danger Recognition Skills
    * Escape Strategies
    * Body Weapons and tools of defense
    * Responses to "What If?
    5:30pm-6:30pm

    Brookline Peaceworks Film Screenings
    Join Brookline Peaceworks for their last political film screening before the presidential election: Unprecedented, a film about the 2000 election. Ronnie Dugger, author of the cover article for the August issue of The Nation, will be a guest speaker at the discussion to follow the film.

    An Afternoon of Sultry Jazz and Sizzling Tango
    Featuring Vocalist Maria Robbins and a Special Tango Dance Exhibition

    Join vocalist Maria Robbins in her 'Farewell East Coast' concert. Best known for her silky vocals and passionate spirit, Maria offers up a colorful combination of jazz, blues and Latin American rhythms blended into a distinctive style that is elegant, soulful and intimate. She is joined by the versatile and talented guitarist Morris Acevado and a spirited rhythm section. AnaLinda Marcus & partner will present a sensual Tango intermission set.
    This is one event you won't want to miss!

    Classics Open Mic & Sing Along: Broadway and You! - Every other Sunday night
    An evening of your favorite classics and showtunes with host Paul Jordan, drummer Leon Alperin, pianist Richard De Mone, and an all-around star-studded lineup of faces from the past. Bring a song to share, sing along, or sit back and enjoy.

    Halloween Break Bash by Crazy Freedy, Snap, & New B Wear
    Get out your Halloween costume a couple of days early, and join the BCCA for a night of funk, real hip-hop, breaks, and mad fun to kick off your Halloween weekend. The event features break dancing competitions and a best costume contest, with DJ Act1 on da' wheels.
    8:00 p.m. - 1 a.m.
    $7 admission at the door

    SATURDAY, October 30th

    Special Halloween Tap Jam with Guest Host Josh Hilberman
    Join Julia Boynton, Josh Hilberman, and the Herman Hampton Trio for a special evening of live music and dancing. This month's jam features master classes for Intermediate and Advanced students, followed by the tap jams and showcase. A must see!

    Tap & Jazz Workshops with Jeff Shade
    12:00-1:30 p.m. Intermediate & Advanced Tap Dance Workshop
    1:30-3:30 p.m. Intermediate & Advanced Jazz Dance Workshop
    Jeff Shade is the former dance captain of Chicago and teaching faculty member at Harvard and the Boston Conservatory, and is currently teaching at STEPS on Broadway.
