February Brings the
Masters of Funk to the BCCA:
Come get down with Megatron! Explore is masterful
take on Poppin', Lockin', Breakin', Hip Hop & Video Dance. Get funky with
the one who taught us all! The BCCA has an exciting new hip-hop dance class
with one of the original B-Boys Megatron from the Floorlords. Offered on
Saturday’s from 2-3 starting this Saturday this class is the hip-hop class to

Megatron’s Bio (from http://www.floorlords.com):
I started poppin’ and lockin’ back in 1978. I was self
taught and formed a group called Cosmic Reaction. I then moved on to co-found
The Floorlords in 1981. We started out doing street performances and during
that time, we travelled all across the country.
I consider my style to be very original as far as being creative. My style is
very versatile and I consider myself a perfectionist. My training technique is
very intense and I like to create difficult routines as well as difficult
moves.
More about the Floor Lords:
Originally formed in
1981, the Floor Lords have played an important role in the evolution of hip-hop
culture for two decades. Helping first define and then expand the art of
breaking, the group has helped bring hip hop to millions of fans worldwide
through television and film appearances on "Live With Regis & Kathy
Lee", "Donahue", "Krush Groove", and
"Southie". Now established as a professional dance troupe, the Floor
Lords continue to share their art through "Floor Lore", a play
written, directed and choreographed by the group, and through other Special
Performances.

awesome hip-hop lineup is Jose (Chickey) Hernandez’ Funk, Breakin’, Hip
Hop & Video Dance class for Teens - every Wednesday at 4:45 p.m. (This class replaces Whitney Low’s &
Craig Smith’s Hip Hop Mania & Video Dance classes, since they are both on
leave.) Chickey is the Founder
of the old-school poppin’, lockin’ & breakin’ group, Lords of
Illusion, so you’re in for a wild time!

Michelle Deane has gone on leave to complete her Elementary
Education Masters degree. She will
return in the last Spring or early Summer, and has asked Stacey Solomon
& Aaron Shi (two capable & talented hip-hop dancers) to take over
her classes in the interim. So don’t
miss a heartbeat, cause she’ll be back and you better be ready.
